Professor Nilüfer Çağatay, 1955-2022, was a brilliant and engaging Professor of Economics
at the University of Utah and a pioneer in gender-aware
macroeconomics, who co-founded GEM-IWG, an international network for knowledge sharing
and capacity building of feminist macroeconomists. She
was a dear friend and collaborator to many, extraordinary mentor of young scholars,
a feminist activist, and a mother. She received her BA in economics
and political science from Yale University and her Ph.D. in economics from Stanford
University.
